Overview

YT Summarizer ("the Extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have.

What Data We Collect

• YouTube video URLs — When you click "Summarize", the current video URL is sent to our server to generate a summary. We do not store these URLs.
• Video transcript text — The transcript is sent to our server and then to DeepSeek AI for summarization. Transcripts are not stored beyond the request.
• Usage count — Free users have a daily limit (3 summaries/day). We track this via your IP address in Cloudflare KV storage, with automatic expiration after 24 hours.
• License key — If you upgrade to Pro, your license key is stored locally in Chrome storage and validated with Lemon Squeezy (our payment processor).

What We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect personal information (name, email, address).
• We do not track your browsing history outside of YouTube.
• We do not use cookies or analytics trackers.
• We do not sell or share any data with third parties.

Third-Party Services

• DeepSeek AI — We send transcript text to DeepSeek's API for summarization. DeepSeek does not use your data for training.
• Lemon Squeezy — Pro license validation and payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy.
• Cloudflare Workers — Our server runs on Cloudflare Workers. Transient IP logging for rate limiting is handled by Cloudflare's infrastructure.

Data Retention

We do not permanently store any data. Usage counters in KV store expire automatically after 24 hours. Transcripts and summaries are processed in memory and discarded immediately after the response is sent.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page.
